COPACABANA, FLAMENGO, AND SANTA TERESA

3/15/2017

September 12, 2013 9:53 pm With the help of Their new friend and tour guide Alain, Sylvia, Mark and Jess Burke (from the UK) departed on their first full day tour of the beautiful sights and sounds of Rio. Passing through the streets of Copacabana where visitors, tourists, and locals alike shopped, drank their morning cafezinho (espresso for us), and hustled through rush hour commuter traffic. Down a short city block we continued along the Atlantic through Copacabana Beach where sun and fun were the priority even first thing in the morning. 10 minutes North through Flamengo were marinas, beautiful views of Sugarloaf Mountain and area beaches with exercise and activity all around us. The final leg of our tour through the ‘mountains’ and rolling hills of Santa Teresa to a Monastery perched high above the city of Rio, was the highlight of our day with Christ the Redeemer welcoming us with open arms. After a few stops at area hotels along the way and still in search of accommodations for our Olympic experience in 2016.
